The license of the buses that pick up passengers from places other than bus stops will be canceled, the Transport Minister stressed on Sunday (18).

Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva made the observation while speaking to reporters at a press conference held in Colombo.

The Minister went on to say the National Transport Commission has already been advised to implement laws against the drivers who violate this regulation.

“The authorities intended to implement this rule since we received a number of complaints in the recent past,” he added.

Minister Siripala said that teams would be deployed and this will come into effect from July 1. He also pointed out that CCTV technology will also be utilized in the future to monitor the situation.
