Minister of Health, Rajitha Senaratne stated that the Health Ministry will continue with its programs to eliminate dengue from Sri Lanka.

He added that out of the 700000 locations that were investigated, 20 acted as breeding grounds for the dengue mosquito.

The minister made these statements during a media briefing held by the National News Department regarding the cabinet session held today (21).

Senaratne stated that 500 fogging machines, along with vectors and bacteria that will help eradicate the virus will be brought into the country to help fight against the spread of dengue.

Furthermore, the minister added that the Australian Health Minister will be visiting Sri Lanka to discuss the planned eradication methods, while discussing a possible training program which will help domestic biologists develop and manipulate the dengue destroying bacteria.
