Reverence extended to Buddhism may be diluting - Mahinda

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated that Buddhism may lose the veneration and patronage extended towards it in near future owing to the course of action taken by the reigning government.

He elaborated that the Government was taking measures to levy more taxes from every avenue possible, owing to the financial crisis prevailing in the country.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa stated this upon attending a function in Hambantota yesterday (26).
