Man held with gold jewellery at BIA

A Sri Lankan national was arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) for allegedly attempting to smuggle gold jewellery into the country this morning (27).


Deputy Customs Director Parakrama Basnayake said that the 35-year-old from Bandaragama had arrived in the country from Bangkok.


The customs have found around two kilos of gold jewellery concealed in a luggage.
