18 SL fishermen arrested

Eighteen Sri Lankan fishermen who had engaged in illegal fishing practices have been arrested by the Sri Lankan Navy.
The arrestees had allegedly been using illegal fishing nets to make their daily catch, in the area between Point Norway and Elizabeth, in Trincomalee.
Three dingy boats along with other fishing gear were taken into the custody of the Navy.
It has been reported that the arrested have been handed over to the Assistant Director of Fisheries for further investigations on the matter.
