Dambulla Cave Temple to be closed temporarily

The Dambulla Cave Temple will be closed temporarily for conservation until further notice, the Education Ministry said.

Accordingly, the archaeological site will temporary remain closed for tourists, the Ministry said in a statement.

The ticket issuing at the site will too be handled by the Central Cultural Fund in future.

This was announced following a field visit at the site by the Archaeology Advisory Panel on Monday.
