24 CIs and IPs transferred island-wide

Twenty-four Chief Inspectors (CI) and Inspector Police (IP) have been transferred with immediate effect. 

The transfers were made according to the recommendation of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and  the National Police Commission, to match the demand for their service. 

Ten CI’s and 14 IP’s have been transferred under the new recommendation. 

Chief Inspectors from the Kalutara Division, Colombo Crime Division and the Ministerial Security Division, were transferred. 

Moreover, six chief inspectors who acted as the Officers in Charge in Thulathuoya, Kanagarayamkulam, Ambalanthota, Weerabugedara, Bibila, Kosgoda have also been transferred elsewhere. 


Police headquarters stated that the Chief Inspector  of the Kalutara Police division has been transferred to the Colombo Division. 

Police Superintendents from Weeragula, Udagama, Akurassa, Alawwa, Pudukuduirippu, Karawelgaswewa, Biyagama, Kandy, Alpitiya, Puttalam, Nugegoda, Galle and the Terrorist Investigations Department were also transferred upon recommendation. 


Meanwhile, 15 policemen from the Gokarella police have been transferred, according to the Police Media Spokesman, SP Ruwan Gunasekara.

Police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said that steps have been taken to transfer 15 officers who had served for over four years due to an excess of staff officers.
