‘Join us, we will soon topple the Govt.,’ Basil says

Former Minister Basil Rajapaksa stated that the Sri Lanka People’s Front, which was considered to be the newest party, would be establishing its own Government before long.

He expressed these sentiments upon attending a public gathering at the Agalawatte Prathiraja Pirivena yesterday (23).

The former Minister said that measures preparations had been made to recruit 200,000 new members to the Front at once.

He also said that the country’s economy had declined drastically and that the agricultural sector was practically non-existent.

“After D. S. Senanayake’s period, it was Mahinda Rajapaksa’s government that exported rice and corn from our country. Now, these people are importing rice and corn from abroad.”

He proceeded to add that local farmers were unable to sell their own harvest when rice was being imported from abroad.

“For the first time in history, the Sri Lankan Agricultural Ministry is importing food commodities,” the former Minister said.

Adding on, Basil Rajapaksa also said: “This is why we formed the People’s Front.

“Join us. We will soon oust the Government.”
