Stationmaster remanded for assault in Chilaw

The station master and two railway employees at the Chilaw railway station have been remanded for allegedly assaulting a passenger. 


The station master and other employees had handed over the individual to the police, for attempting to travel on a train without a valid ticket. However, the individual had later made a complaint and had admitted himself to the hospital, stating that the station master had assaulted the individual during the incident, on the 2 of this month (July). 


The police then produced him before the Chilaw District Magistrate where he stated that the stationmaster  and two others had assaulted him.


 Accordingly, the District Judge ordered the Chilaw Police to carry out an investigation the matter and report it to the Court.  


The Chilaw Station Master, a security guard and another employee surrendered themselves to the Chilaw Police yesterday.

 

Police stated that they have been remanded till tomorrow (27), after being produced to the Court.
