Electricity to be bought from pvt. contractors if needed - Min. of Energy

The Ministry of Power and Renewable energy stated that they will be working towards providing a consistent supply of electricity, despite the prevailing dry conditions making electricity generation harder.

Media Spokesperson of the ministry, Sulakshana Jayawardena stated that the water levels of the reservoirs have decreased by 36.8%.

While the ministry is working towards allowing their hydropower plant to generate electricity smoothly, private energy contracts have been signed by the government if the grid requires the purchasing of electricity from an external source.

The ministry has strongly advised the public to consider the situation the country is currently facing, while requesting the public to consume electricity responsibly and sustainably .
