Ravi has been used as the Govt.’s scapegoat - Dullas

Parliamentarian Dullas Alahapperuma states that Ravi Karunanayake was pressured into resigning in order to protect the integrity of the Government.

He expressed these sentiments upon attending the Joint Opposition’s (JO’s) press conference earlier today (10).

The MP proceeded to complain that the Government was attempting to use Ravi Karunanayake as a scapegoat, and added that they had deposited the entirety of the Central Bank bond scandal in Karunanayake’s account.

Alahapperuma accordingly stated that the Government was attempting to sweep the truth of the scandal under the rug forever.

He then said that a certain Government Minister had announced that the loss incurred by the bond scandal amounted to Rs. 1 trillion.

Karunanayake has been accused of defrauding worth only about Rs. 160 million, he said, which, according to Health Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne, is “a single wedge of an onion”.

Alahapperuma then questioned as to why the Government was attempting to protect the owners of the onion bed in such a situation.

Furthermore, he added that it was the responsibility of all those who strove to see a pure government to be vigilant until the truth about the alleged bond scandal was finally revealed to the whole nation without a shred of doubt.
