Leader of the SLFP Youth Front Shantha Bandara stated that the resignation of former Foreign Minister Ravi Karunanayake is a political victory to the current government.

Speaking to the media today (11) Shantha Bandara further stated that had there been only one party in power, several other Ministers too would have no option but to resign paving the way for a shift in political power.

He also stated that a collective decision has been taken to remain with the government to reinforce the unity of the party. However he also mentioned that a change of heart may prompt them to distance themselves from the current governing body.

MP Bandra also voiced his opinions on the SAITM university. He stated that SAITM has raised its standards since its inception and that the government should take steps to legally establish it.

He further stated that the GMOA and student activist groups should realize the value of private education and act in a more responsible open-minded way when dealing with the SAITM issue.
