PRECIFAC concludes investigations on two more complaints

The Presidential Commission of Inquiry appointed to investigate and inquire into serious acts of fraud, corruption and abuse of power, state resources and privileges has concluded investigations into two more complaints it had received. 

Investigations have concluded regarding the complaint on alleged financial irregularities in renovating the tsunami and multi hazard early warning towers in the North and Eastern provinces and the complaint regarding the removal of scrap metal from the the Kankesanthurai cement factory. 

Secretary to the commission H.W. Gunadasa said that the relevant reports will be compiled shortly and handed over to the President in the near future. 

Three officials of the Disaster Management Center (DMC) have been charged with misusing state funds amounting to Rs 6 million under the guise of renovating the tsunami and multi hazard early warning towers in the North and East. 

Meanwhile 13 individuals including former Army Commander Lt. Gen. Daya Ratnayake have been accused over the incident of removing scrap metal from the Kankesanthurai cement factory.

The commission of inquiry has so far handed over 17 reports of concluded investigations to President Maithripala Sirisena. These include the probe into Rakna Lanka and Avant Garde as well as SriLankan Catering Limited.
