72nd UNGA regular session to commence tomorrow

The 72nd regular session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) will be commencing tomorrow (12).

The session will be held at the United Nations headquarters in New York, USA, and will draw to a close on September 25.

The General Debate which opens on September 19 will focus on the theme, ‘Focusing on People: Striving for Peace and a Decent Life for All on a Sustainable Planet’.

Topics such as environmental education, environmental conventions, social development, technology and innovation, and water and sanitation have been included in the session’s agenda.

President Maithripala Sirisena will be attending the UNGA session from September 19 onward.
