LG polls can’t be held this year – Elections Chief

The Local Government election cannot be held this year, according to the Chairman of the Elections Commission.

Speaking at a press conference in Colombo today (12), Mahinda Deshapriya said that the only date in December on which the election can be held this year on has already been requested for by the Commissioner General of Examinations.

He stated that the possible dates for holding the Local Government polls in January next year are 06th, 20th or the 27th.
