CEB Technological Engineers and Superintendents to join strike from midnight

The Ceylon Electricity Board Employees’ Union (CEBEU) said that they will not report to work until the respective parties involved in the CEB frauds are penalized.

Meanwhile Ceylon Electricity Board Technological Engineers and Superintendent Union (CEBTESU) yesterday said they would also support the strike action from midnight today (18).

However Power and Renewable Energy Minister, Ranjith Siyambalapitiya yesterday (17) asked the employees to report back to work, as he assured that they would be given paid leave for the duration of their strike.

The Minister said that the electricity consumers should not be inconvenienced because of the CEB’s internal problems which could be sorted out only through negotiations.

“The unions should display some flexibility in negotiations,” he added.

However, the union’s trade union said that they would not report to work until their problems are resolved.
