September 20, 2017   12:24 pm

The Power and Renewable Energy ministry issued final warnings to CEB employees on casual and probation basis to report to work before noon tomorrow (21) or face the consequences.

Meanwhile the Ceylon Electricity Board Employees’ Union (CEBEU) announced that a massive protest will be staged tomorrow (21) if the government fails to address their issues before today noon (20)

The government should take up the responsibility of any inconvenience caused to public due to the trade union action, the CEBEU said.

“We hope to win this battle without causing injustice to any CEB employee” the CEBEU added.

The CEB employees launched a strike action from September 13, based on a number of demands.

The trade union action was continued unaffected, although the Minister issued orders for the workers to report back to work.
