President Sirisena returns from US

President Maithripala Sirisena returned to the island today (25) after concluding his US tour.

The President and the delegation arrived in Bandaranaike International Airport, Colombo,this morning at 08.45 am, Ada Derana Airport correspondent reported.

President Maithripala Sirisena left for New York, US on September 17 to attend the 72nd General Assembly of the United Nations (UN).

The 72nd Regular Session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 72) convened at UN Headquarters on September 12.

The President addressed the General Assembly on September 19 for the third consecutive time.

During the visit, President Maithripala Sirisena met with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres as well as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Prince Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein.

The discussion focused on the development and reconciliation process in the country.
