The price of a 12.5kg cylinder of domestic LP gas will be increased by Rs.110 from midnight today (25).
According to Gas companies, the price increase has been carried out in line with the increase in liquid petroleum (LP) gas process in the global market.
The Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA) had sent a Price Determination Notification (PDN) today to the domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) suppliers Litro Gas Lanka and LAUGFS Gas PLC, allowing them to revise their domestic LPG prices.
The PDN is issued in accordance with Section 18 of CAA Act and is in response to previous applications to do so by the domestic LPG supplier firms Litro Gas Lanka and LAUGFS Gas PLC to allow them to revise their LPG prices in the market, the ministry of industry and commerce said.
Accordingly, price increase of Rs 110.00 is allowed for a 12.5 Kg LPG Cylinder, price increase of Rs 44.00 is allowed for a 5Kg LPG Cylinder, and a price increase of Rs 20.00 is allowed for a 2.3 Kg LPG Cylinder.
The new prices can be effected by these supplier firms starting 1.00am on Tuesday (26).
Accordingly, the current 12.5kg cylinder price of Rs 1346.00 would increase to Rs 1456.00 for both Litro and Laugfs Gas.
