
President Maithripala Sirisena stated that it is of utmost importance that the Buddhist community bands together to safeguard the integrity and reverence of Buddhist monks in Sri Lanka, as the cultural and religious forces within the nation outweigh legal and political powers.
The President stated that the general populace should not act in a way that defames, or disrespects the Buddhist clergy.
Speaking to a gathering in Galle yesterday (2), President Sirisena stated that the cultural and religious forces within the country are more powerful than any political or legal forces.
He further stated that the entire nation should fully comprehend the culture of the nation in order to act accordingly in a united national manner.
President Sirisena stated that every person including political leaders, should respect the Maha Sanga of the country as they are a key component of society.
