Missiles launched over the southern coast of Sri Lanka?

Residents of the Southern region observed a bright light that illuminated the southern skies of Sri Lankan last night (18). Prof. Chandana Jayaratne of the Department of Physics at the University of Colombo stated that the phenomenon may have been a tested missile that was launched in close proximity to Sri Lanka.
Prof. Jayaratne stated that eye witness accounts and data observed concur with the assumption that the bright lights may have been a missile explosion.
Several residents of the South shared their experiences last night with Ada Derana correspondents. Several eye witnesses stated that there was a bright light that illuminated the sky for a period of time before exploding a short while after.
Based on the events Prof. Jayaratne stated that the phenomenon may well have been a missile that exploded off the southern coast of Sri Lanka.
