Water leakage in Uma Oya project decreased

The amount of water being drained to the main tunnel of the Uma Oya project is currently decreasing, information revealed.

This was revealed following a discussion held regarding Uma Oya project recently.

Earlier, the main tunnel leaked about 1460 liters of water per second, and now it has been reduced to a range of 550 - 650 liters per second, according to engineers.

The engineers have also said that the water leakage was reduced due to the current construction.

The amount of water leakage could be further reduced during the next 3 months, the engineers pointed out.

Meanwhile, a large number of dried-up wells that were in Bandarawela area have been re- filled with water, discussions revealed.
