Retiring Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah promoted to the rank of Admiral

President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Maithripala Sirisena has promoted the Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Travis Sinniah to the rank of Admiral with effect from 25th October 2017. 

Admiral Sinniah has rendered a noble service to the Navy during his 35 years of unblemished naval career.

 Admiral Sinniah received his primary education at Trinity College, and later at St. Joseph’s College had a star studded career in the Navy. Having joined as an Officer Cadet in 1982, he graduated and received a scholarship to the Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth where he graduated in 1986. 

Admiral Sinniah joined the Sri Lanka Navy in 1982 as an Officer Cadet of the 11th intake and rendered an exceptional service in the name of the motherland. 
On completion of his distinguished naval career, the present Commander of the Navy, Admiral Travis Sinniah is set to retire from his naval service today (26).
