Ada Derana correspondents report that two suspects that were arrested for forging the signature of Chathurika Sirisena and a letterhead of the Presidential Secretariat were remanded till November 29, by the Colombo Magistrate’s court.

It has been reported that a government bank received a letter penned on a letterhead of the Presidential Secretariat requesting a concession to be provided to a bank loan. Reports confirm that the signatory of the letter was Chathurika Sirisena.

Upon receiving the request bank employees contacted the President’s daughter to verify the request that was made. Chathurika Sirisena immediately denied penning such a letter and lodged a complaint with the CID.

Following investigations the CID apprehended a mother and her son who had forged the signature of Chathurika Sirisena on a false letterhead of the Presidential Secretariat. Reports confirm that the arrests were made yesterday (17).

Ada Derana correspondents state that the male suspect is an entrepreneur running a catering service.

Following the arrest the two persons were produced before the Colombo Magistrate’s court today (18), and were remanded till November 29 pending further inquiry.
