Ven. Muruththettuwe Ananda Thero stated that a substantial number of Sanghas against the government will descend on streets if former Defense Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa is arrested.

The statement was made today (24) during the ‘Mawbima Surakime Jathika Balawegaya’s media briefing held in Colombo.

“The present government is carrying out large scale retaliations. The country will experience in massive catastrophes due to the impiety of these rulers,” the Thero said.

Taking revenge from whoever linked to Mahinda Rajapaksa had become the pursuit of this government, the Thero added.

“It is being reported that there are attempts to arrest Gotabhaya Rajapaksa.”

“They are trying to arrest Gotabhaya Rajapaksa over fears of him entering politics,” Ananda Thero alleged.
