Youth injured following shooting in Hikkaduwa

A 28-year-old youth was injured and hospitalised in a shooting incident in the Hennathota area on the Dodanduwa-Gonapinuwala road in the Hikkaduwa Police Division.

Police said that the shooting was carried out by two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle at around 12 noon today (5) while they had targeted the youth, who was walking on the road. 

The victim is a resident of Narammala who had reportedly visited Hikkaduwa in order to carry out some welding work.  

He has been admitted to the Karapitiya Hospital with gunshot injuries.
