North-east monsoon established over Sri Lanka – Met Dept

Showers or thundershowers will occur in the most provinces of the island. Fairly heavy falls (above 75mm) can be expected at some places in the Eastern,Uva, Sabaragamuwa and Southern provinces and in the Kaluthara district.

Fairly strong gusty wind (up to 50 kmph) can be expected in North-western and Central provinces and Hambanthota and Matara districts.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
