SLPP and SLMC among rejected nomination lists

Several nomination lists of certain political parties including the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) for the forthcoming local government election have been rejected by Returning Officers.

The Podujana Peramuna’s nomination list for the Thirappane Pradeshiya Sabha in the Anuradhapura District has been rejected. 

Meanwhile the nomination list of the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) for the Weligama Pradeshiya Sabha in the Matara District has been rejected by the Returning Officer. 

The nomination list of the Janasetha Peramuna, a political party led by Ven. Battaramulle Seelaratana thera, for the Welikanda Pradeshiya Sabha in Polonnaruwa District has also been rejected. 

The Mawbima Janatha Party’s nomination list for the Dickwella Pradeshiya Sabha has also been rejected.  

The accepting of nominations for 248 local government institutions ended at 12 noon today (21).
