Sports Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara said although last year’s Local Government election concluded with the assassination of former parliamentarian and presidential adviser Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra, such a tragedy won’t take place during this year’s LG election.

Addressing a media briefing held in Colombo today (22), the Minister said that new leaders should emerge within SLFP and it would be a great strength to the party.

“The SLFP voters know the political foe of our party at the upcoming LG polls and they will use their vote accordingly,” he added.

Speaking further, the Minister said that the Central Committee of SLFP will convene today.
