Four dead, two injured in car-train collision

A car had collided with a moving train at an unprotected railway crossing in Omanthai, Vavuniya, this morning (16), stated the police.

Reportedly, 4 persons had died on the spot and 2 other have been injured in the accident.

The car had collided with an express train en route from Jaffna to Matara, said Police.

The injured persons have been admitted to the Vavuniya hospital for treatment.

The accident had occurred at around 10.30 am this morning and Omanthai Police is conducting further investigations on the incident.
