The National Transport Commission (NTC) today announced the revised bus fares following the decision to increase fares in line with the recent fuel price hike.

Minister of Transport Nimal Siripala de Silva announced that the bus fares will be increased by 4% with effect from midnight tomorrow (19). However, the minimum fare will remain as Rs 12.

Meanwhile the NTC said that the bus fare increase will have no affect on the fares of Expressway buses and semi-luxury buses.

The minister announced this decision following a discussion held with representatives of private bus trade unions at the Ministry of Transport today (19).
