President’s UN speech the best answer to accusations – Samarasinghe

President Maithripala Sirisena, addressing the UN General Assembly, has emphasized the importance of the identity as Sri Lankans when moving forward as an independent country, says the SLFP Media Spokesperson Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe.

He stated this today (26) addressing a press conference convened by SLFP in Colombo.

The President has requested the international community not to interfere with the country’s path to reconciliation, Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe said.

He added that the President has provided the best answer in his speech at the UN General Assembly to the individuals who had recently accused the President is betraying the country.

The President has made a statement that makes Sri Lanka proud, Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe Stated.

According to him, the CEO of Millennium Challenge Corporation has promised the President to grant USD 480 million in funds to Sri Lanka and that he would be arriving in the country on December in order to sign the relevant agreement.

Commenting further, Minister Mahinda Amasinghe stated that the Central Bank should take measures to prevent the depreciation of Sri Lankan Rupee.
