Mahinda says he will take leadership of SLPP

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa says that he is ready take over the leadership of Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).

A meeting of party leaders and representatives of the Joint Opposition was held last night (02) at the official residence of the former President Rajapaksa in Wijerama Mawatha. He responded to questions of journalists following the meeting.

He says that issue of the IGP, future parliamentary activities and the silence on the President assassination plot were discussed at the meeting.

Rajapaksa says that they have a suspicion as to whether the current government would go beyond just mere slandering of them.

President should know to be more active on the alleged conspiracy of President’s assassination, he further said.
