National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) has introduced a national mental health helpline for the public of Sri Lanka.

The toll-free number ‘1926’ was launched in an event held at the hospital in attendance with Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne.

The telephone number ‘1926’ was used for the helpline, to commemorate the year NIMH was established.

Any individual can call the helpline and receive mental health assistance from doctors at NIMH.

After initial assistance, if the need arises, they will be directed for further treatment.
