Pregnant elephant dies in road accident near ‘Yaka Wanguwa’

A pregnant elephant has died after colliding with a van near ‘Yaka Wanguwa’ junction on the Habarana-Kantale road this morning (25), said Ada Derana reporter.

Reportedly, severe damages have been caused to the van in the accident.

The deceased pregnant elephant is said to be around 40 years of age, according to the Kaudulla Wildlife Office.

The driver of the van has been arrested in connection with the accident and Habarana Police is conducting further investigations regarding the incident.
