A fundamental rights petition has been filed seeking the withdrawal of the Gazette proroguing the Parliament, stated Ada Derana reporter.

Attorney-at law Nagananda Kodituwakku has filed the petition before the Supreme Court.

The petition states that the Gazette issued by the President on the 27th October, proroguing the parliament till 16th November without good reason has created instability in the country.

Accordingly, the petitioner requests the court to declare that fundamental rights have been violated by President’s decision and to render the relevant Gazette inoperative by declaring it unlawful.
