‘Aruni Baba’ and ‘Thel Chooti’ arrested with drugs

Police have arrested two prominent drug traffickers including a woman, who is the wife of notorious underworld figure ‘Kudu Roshan’.

Police Spokesman SP Ruwan Gunasekara said Kudu Roshan’s wife, a 30-year-old woman known by the alias ‘Aruni Baba’, was arrested during a raid carried out by the Special Task Force (STF) in the Samipura area in Mattakkuliya.

Police had received information that the woman in question was allegedly running her husband’s drug racket following his arrest.

Kudu Roshan, who is the chief suspect of the quadruple murder in Marrakkuliya in 2016, is currently in remand custody.

Police said that approximately 3 grams of heroin and Rs 1 million in cash, earned from the drug trade, were found in the possession of Kudu Roshan’s wife.

Following her interrogation, information was uncovered regarding two houses they had rented in Ragama and Kadawatha areas.

Police carried search operations at those houses and succeeded in apprehending another suspect from the Kadawatha home.

This suspect has been identified as Salinda Dharmasiri Ranasinghe, also known as “Thel Chooti”, who has been accused of murders and drug trafficking. 

Police officers found 2 grams of heroin, 100mg of the drug known as ‘Ice’ and also Rs 700,000 in cash.
