The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced that the use of all drones and unmanned aircraft within Sri Lankan airspace has been prohibited until further notice.

The authority said that the ban was imposed from last night and will be in effect until further notice.

The decision has been taken after considering the prevailing security situation in the country.

The CAA says all the permits issued by the authority will be cancelled with immediate effect.
