Report on regulation of Madrasah handed over to PM

Minister of Postal Services and Muslim Religious Affairs M.H.A. Haleem has handed over the committee report on regulating Arabic schools (Madrasah) to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today (06).

 

Reportedly, the laws implemented in foreign countries and the Pirivena Education Act in Sri Lanka have been taken into consideration while preparing this report. All Madrasahs would be regulated and abide by a set of rules and regulations common for all educational institutions, according to the report.

 

The draft is to be presented to the Cabinet following the consultations of the Attorney General and the Legal Draftsman.

 

Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff Minister Sagala Ratnayake, Non-Cabinet Minister Harsha de Silva and State Minister Eran Wickremaratne also joined this event.
