Media asked not to show weapons found in search operations

The Director General of the Government Information Nalaka Kaluwewa today instructed all media organizations to refrain from broadcasting footage of weapons including swords and knives discovered during search operations being carried out island-wide.

Please note that as per the request from the government, Ada Derana will be refraining from broadcasting video footage of the operations being carried out by the security forces.

The DG of Government Information had requested an audience with all news heads of media organizations for a meeting at the Department of Government Information this morning (09).

During this meeting, he had instructed all media organizations to refrain from broadcasting footage of the weapons discovered during search operations.
