Pandal makers face hardships due to restrictions on Vesak zones

The pandal makers are currently suffering a huge blow in the aftermath of the Easter attacks, says the Pandal Makers’ Association.

The president of the association Susantha Alwis said the government should heed these issued without delay.

These issues emerged as the government had put restrictions on Vesak zones and exhibiting pandals during Vesak Poya which falls on this weekend, owing to security concerns following Easter attacks.


Meanwhile, the All-Island Basnayaka Nilames Association says that concerns regarding the security of Esala Perahera and Ethul Perahera at Temple of the Tooth Relic, Kandy.

President of the association Basnayake Nilame Gayan Heenkenda said they intend to inform President Maithripala Sirisena today (16) in this regard.

He added that they would meet up with the President to discuss providing security for Esala Perahera and Ethul Perahera.
