A fire has erupted in a forest reserve at Ruwanpura area in Hatton this evening (16).

The fire brigade of Hatton Dickoya Urban Council and the police are currently making joint efforts to douse the fire, according to reports.

Dousing the fire has become a challenge as taking the equipment of the fire brigade into the mountainous forest reserve is strenuous.

Reports said that nearly 10 acres of the forest reserve has already been destroyed by the fire.

Minister of Community Empowerment and Estate Infrastructure Development Arumugan Thondaman has visited the site this evening.
