Supreme Court Justice Buwaneka Aluwihare has sworn in as the Acting Chief Justice.

The President’s Media Division (PMD) said Justice Aluwihare took oaths before President Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat.

This appointment was made as Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya is currently aboard.

Aluwihare was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2013 and he was serving as the Additional Solicitor General at the time. He has also served as a prosecutor for the UN’s Serious Crimes Investigation Unit.
