The Director of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has been informed to appear before the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) probing incidents of political victimization on February 25.
A spokesperson of the Commission said the CID chief was issued notices to produce to documents pertaining to the case against former Commander of Sri Lanka Navy, Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda, which was filed with the Permanent High Court at Bar.
Karannagoda, who recorded a statement with the Commission recently, had claimed that he was made a victim of political vengeance owing to the case filed by the CID accusing him of the alleged abduction and force disappearance of 11 youths back in 2008.
In the meantime, the Commission recently informed the Attorney General to submit the files related to this lawsuit against Karannagoda to the panel. A state counsel recorded a statement with the Commission on behalf of the Attorney General and made a request to set another date to hand over the documents.
Accordingly, the Attorney General is set to make an appearance before the Presidential Commission on the 27th of this month.
