Navy brings ashore a fisherman who had close contact with coronavirus patient

Navy today (29) brought ashore a fisherman who has had close contact with a person infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19). 

 

A group of naval personnel attached to the Eastern Naval Command then commenced operation in search of the suspicious persons and the craft he was aboard after being informed by the Trincomalee Police of a person who needs to be quarantined.

 

The Navy said that he had been attempting to return ashore in Trincomalee secretly, after venturing into the sea for fishing.

 

Subsequently, the Navy managed to locate the said person and the craft he was aboard along with 02 more suspicious fishing vessels and 10 persons aboard those vessels. The naval personnel had escorted all these 03 vessels ashore by early this morning (29th March 2020). 

 

Subsequently, naval medics in accordance with all protective guidelines, diagnosed if the persons had initial symptoms and their vessels were also disinfected by Chemical, Biological, Radiological and Nuclear (CBRN) Unit of the Navy. All apprehended persons were then handed over to the Trincomalee Police for onward action.
