Import of non-essentials except medicines, fuel to be limited & suspended

The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to limit and suspend the import of all non-essential items except pharmaceuticals and fuel, says the Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Ramesh Pathirana.

He announced this during the media briefing held this morning (02) to announce Cabinet decisions.

This decision was taken with the objective of strengthening local agriculture sector and starting up well-established industries in the near future, he added.
