Sri Lankans stranded in intl. airports to be repatriated

The government has decided to bring back Sri Lankans stranded in airports across the world, said the Co-Cabinet Spokesman Minister Ramesh Pathirana.

 

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the proposal submitted by foreign Minister Dinesh Gunawardena at the Cabinet meeting.

 

Accordingly, 33 Sri Lankans including state officials and students, who are stranded at 13 international airports, will be repatriated by the Sri Lankan government.

 

They will be subjected to a 21-day quarantine process upon arrival, said Pathirana.

 

Sri Lankans stranded in Muscat airport in Oman (5), Dubai airport (3), Singapore airport (7), Addis Ababa in Ethiopia (1), Ankara in Turkey (2), Malaysia airport (1), New Delhi airport in India (1), Maldives airport (1), London airport (2), Seychelles (1), Papua New Guinea (3), Lisbon in Portugal (1), and Cairo in Egypt (5) will be repatriated in this manner.
