All post offices across the island will be operating as usual from the 4th of May, Post Master General announced.

Previously, Sri Lanka Post temporarily discontinued its services, upon measures taken by the government to curtail the spread of COVID-19 within the country.

However, from May 04th onwards, all post offices will be open for general services, said Post Master General Ranjith Ariyaratne.

Thereby, all payments including Public Assistance monthly allowances, Elderly allowances, Farmers’ Pensions, and Pensions will be paid through post offices as per usual.

the public will also be able to pay water bills, electricity bills, make local electronic currency transfers and hand over letters and parcels for local and international postage, from said date.

Postmaster General states that he expects the public who wish to obtain postal services would comply with the health safety regulations issued by the health sector.
