228 inmates granted Presidential Pardon for Vesak

Presidential pardon has been granted to 228 inmates detained over minor offences today (18), in view of the Vesak Poya Day.

Commissioner General of Prisons said four women are among the pardoned inmates.

In addition, 62 more inmates have been pardoned today (07), on the powers vested with the Justice Minister.

They have been released on licence, the Prisons Commissioner General explained.
