Over 48,000 curfew violators arrested so far

Sri Lanka Police said that 859 individuals were arrested for violating the curfew within the 24 hours ending from 6.00 a.m. this morning.

Some 206 vehicles were also taken into custody during that period, the Police Spokesman’s Office said.

Accordingly, police has so far arrested a total of 48,725 persons and taken into custody 12,654 vehicles in connection with curfew violations.

Mawathagama Police Station alone has taken 70 motorcycles into custody for traveling without curfew permits over the past couple of days.
